Chapter 3 questions
- Through any mode of your choice, create a way to depict the debate between Golgi and Cajal. You might create a comic strip, a dialogue, etc.
- Based on the information you see in “3.1 Characteristics of Neurons,” create a Venn diagram depicting the similarities and differences between most cells and neurons. Alternatively, use a table to show their similarities and differences.
- Are the cells in our bodies that are replaced new or old? Consider the argument behind George Washington’s axe as discussed in this chapter. Defend your answer.
- Watch the video about Suzana Herculano-Houzel. Link it to 2-3 of the concepts you have read or learned about thus far in the course.
- Develop a model of a neuron that you can use to identify all parts discussed here.
- There are two ways in which neurons are categorized in this chapter. Is one of those easier for you to understand than the other? If so, why? If not, why?
- Which is the most interesting glial cell to you? Why? Which is the least interesting? Why?
