About this Open Educational Resource Format

Each of the modules will include learning objectives, learning activities, connections to the case stories and additional resources. These are highlighted in each of the modules by coloured textboxes as demonstrated below.

Learning Objectives

Green boxes will appear at the beginning of each Module with the learning objectives. Each objective will contain a link to that section of the module. The learning objectives use verbs from Bloom’s taxonomy and include objectives from the range of types of learning. For more information on creating learning objectives, see Dalhousie University Centre for Learning and Teaching resources on learning outcomes.

Learning Activities

Blue boxes provide active learning activities or exercises to support students to explore the topic and enhance learning. We aim to provide activities that can be adapted for different learning contexts, such as in-person classes, on-line learning and hybrid teaching formats. You can find more information on active learning and active learning strategies on the Dalhousie University Centre for Learning and Teaching resources on active learning.

Connection to Case Stories

Purple boxes provide activities and questions to connect the material to the case stories. These are active learning activities that related specifically to the case stories and can be used to enhanced the continuity of learning enabled by following the stories of one case across learning activities.

Additional Resources

Orange boxes will appear at the end of a section or module with additional readings, links to relevant websites, etc. to further your understanding of the topic. This information is provided to provide evidence to include in brief presentations or lectures, or to support other learning activities. We include both resources on the module content, and for teaching strategies you may want to try.
